The first colour of fall is yellow. I saw it everywhere along my run this afternoon.
The kids picked a bag of goldenrod tops on the Iron Horse Trail and we brought it home to simmer in the dye pot. Then i strained it, added mordant (alum and cream of tartar) and this shirt.
It has a greenish tinge to it that is so emblematic of nature right now, the green trees on their way to yellow, soon orange, then red.
